FREE STEMS TO USE: Ashes and Dreams gives away stems for their entire album: remix & sell under a Creative Commons ‘Attribution Only’ licence.

Another The New Beatmaker favourite comes through with festive / New Year goodies.

From electro-pop due Ashes and Dreams:

FREE STEMS TO USE: Ashes and Dreams gives away stems for their entire album

DJs free to remix & sell their creations under ‘Attribution Only’ licence

(December 24, 2017 - Winnipeg, Canada) – Merry Christmas, DJs! Electro-chill artists Ashes and Dreams have decided to give away the stems for their new album,Havana, under a Creative Commons’ Attribution Only license.

This means DJs can download and remix any of the 12 songs from the album, even sell their remixes, and owe nothing to the artist – as long as they include the band’s name and original song title in their remix.

The move to distribute the free stems fosters a spirit of collaboration Ashes and Dreams has been embracing over the past couple of years. The band previously partnered with international DJs in 2017 to remix it’s upbeat dance track, Gonna Work Out, resulting in 18 remixes from Austria to Australia.

The new Havana remix rules are much more generous.

“We pray to God that our new DJ friends will sell their remixes and make millions,” Ashes and Dreams’ guitarist & producer Liv Mircea says with a laugh. “If our name is there, all good.”

LICENSE DETAILS:

Creative Commons - Attribution Only license: This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered. Recommended for maximum dissemination and use of licensed materials. https://creativecommons.org/licenses

#TNBCatchUp #MusicMonday Optic Masters the Art of 'Uneasy Listening'

#TNBCatchUP: The New Beatmaker takes some time out a few times a year; 'TNBCatchUp' takes a look back at projects which came out during such an hiatus which otherwise would have been featured at the time of release. OPTIC has been a The New Beatmaker favourite for a while now, His music is a dense, almost nightmarish mix of sonic soundscapes fighting for attention. 'OPTIC is Tokyo(Japan) based Hip Hop Producer. He lived in United States for 10 years and experienced 90`s Hip Hop in real time.  He is known as mysterious presence in Japanese Hip Hop scene.'  Optic features in the next episode of TNB Raps / Mixcloud Sessions.  He has also, at the time writing just released this: https://optioptic.bandcamp.com/album/sim-tape   Wa;capella Part.1 by OPTIC      Distortion EP by Optic If you are in the mood for 'uneasy listening' which will result in sleepless nights from both the sonic pallet and the neck-ache from all the head-bob inducing ...

Lanzo Interview: Bringing Something Different to the Table

Regular readers know that I'm partial to Lanzo's trippy cocktail of jazzy samples, rugged drums, warm bass lines and quirky humour.  His 2012 debut EP 'Suspension of Consciousness' is a favourite of mine. A major part of Chicago's beat scene, Lanzo works at a prodigious rate: knocking out solo tracks and collaborations with pals including Norman and his Young Ho Collective brethren.  With his latest EP 'Burn Better Trunks' due April 20, The New Beat Maker caught up with the man himself to talk influences and the creative process .  TNBM: When and how did you get into beatmaking? Who were your early influences? Lanzo: I’ve been into hip hop since middle school.  I listened to a lot of Eminem, Mobb Deep, & J Dilla.  I started engineering for other people, then eventually one of my homies convinced me to jump on the mic.  From then on I balanced skating, Playstation & music.  The instrumentals started coming in 2007.  (Solomon ...
